The Public Schools Finance Board (PSFB) of Manitoba "New Green Portables Project" consisted of two primary components. The first was a reworking of a standard  PSFB portable classroom module.  The purpose of this reworking was to produce portable classrooms that are, and will continue to be, more environmentally responsive, respectful, and sustainable.  The second component was the development of a mobile portable classroom that in addition to be sustainable, has the ability to operate "off the grid" - without inputs from local services or infrastructure. 

The "greening" program put forth by PSFB  was intended to be evolutionary, and is to be completed over the course of a number of phases.  All consultants working on the project were involved from the beginning, so as to facilitate an integrated design delivery process.
