SM-ARC

Working from an existing 950 sqft originally laid out for two up and coming design companies, the space was reworked by the selective removal and grafting of wall planes. The approach was 3-fold in nature: 1) Define a welcoming entry 2) Create a flexible, open and expanded work zone 3) House a public yet private meeting space

The ’front door’ is wrapped by a coloured bulkhead plane which guides and directs you into the office proper. The subsequent framework of half height white walls support dropped in linear surfaces of stained wood, which float and repeat throughout the space. Anchoring the space is the lounge and informal meeting area, which look out over the urban landscape of downtown Winnipeg. Sliding translucent screens selectively separate the space when required, or gang together to have the spaces breathe and interact.
